20 Mar 2023

Alexandros Manousakis, Poppy Bouskouta and team, supported the set up and launch of a health app in in Germany (as a lifestyle application) owned by a multinational Pharmaceutical company, to be used by patients suffering from Acute hepatic porphyria (AHP), to monitor their disease and provide reports on symptom and attack trends, disease progression, and quality of life to healthcare professionals invited by such patients.

Our team performed the regulatory review of the concerned app by conducting a Data Protection Impact Assessment, drafting a Privacy Notice, Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions and the consent forms in relation to the registration of the users as well as performing a Transfer Impact Assessment due to the transfer of data out of EEA.

In doing so, our team participated in a series of meetings with the project owner and the developer to understand the different aspects of the project, identify any risks and provide advice in relation to the best practices relating to securing the development environment, minimising data collection, managing source codes, preparing the development, informing users, as well as defining a data retention period.

Successful completion of the identified steps by the project team, resulted to the launch of the app into the marketplace, that is now available to the patients.
